µsmin® Plus (Microsmin® Plus) from Giellepi is an innovative diosmin-based ingredient formulated to address the needs of consumers who want to support the challenged circulation in legs in a convenient once per day dose.
Diosmin (3’, 5, 7-trihydroxy-4’-methoxyflavone-7-rhamnoglucoside), a natural occurring flavonoid present in citrus fruits and commonly manufactured from hesperidin found in bitter and sweet orange has poor absorption with large doses of powder typically needed for health benefits.
Microsmin® Plus has been designed to get in the system quickly showing 9.4 times greater bioavailability compared to micronized diosmin. Composition
μsmin® Plus is produced using a proprietary technology that allows to achieve the optimal concentration threshold of diosmin’s bioactive form while limiting the presence of selected extraction solvents below 1 ppm. Clinical evidence
A double-blind, two-period, cross-over trial in healthy subjects showed 9.4 times greater relative absorption of μsmin® Plus than standard micronized diosmin (Russo et al. 2018). Due to its better rate, μsmin® Plus has been evaluated in a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical study on subjects suffering from poor blood circulations in the legs to assess its benefits on typical signs and symptoms (swelling, heaviness, pain…) and quality of life.
